Major General John  Sullivan Lodge

Epping, N.H.

Saturday, November 3rd from 9 to 11 am.

The beginning of a new Masonic year is almost here.  Are you ready ?

This class will discuss Choosing and Developing Junior Officers which is a very important task for new Masterrs.   Even if this coming year is not yours, it’s necessary to think of all that is needed.  It comes quickly.

The Master’s Class is designed for those who will, or might, work their way to the East but also contains important information for any MM. All are welcome to join the circle for an open and free discussion. This is not a class room setting with a lecture. It promises not to be boring !

If you are to be installed into the East this year (or anytime for that matter)

  • What officers are involved in the selection process
  • Who is elected and who is appointed
  • Can you have any say as to the Elected Officers.  (should you)
  • When do you start the process
  • Are all Officers involved in the years planning  (should they be and how)
  • Once chosen and elected or appointed, how do you develop them
  • What do you do if an Officer does not participate in his duties.  Can he be dropped.  Should he.
  • You will be in the East for just one year.  What happens when your time is up

And the questions go on.  The program is set in a round table format with comments from all.

This class is being held later than usual because of the Open House weekend and your writer wishing to attend the Grand Master’s last LOI later in October.

Remember that on the “third Saturday in November” on the 17th is the Semi Annual meeting of Grand Lodge in Manchester.  Each Lodge has four votes, the Master and both Wardens (who should voted their conscience) and the Lodge Rep who should vote the consensus of the Lodge.  At the Semi-annual will be several items of importance and your Lodge’s votes will count.  Additionally, although there are only four votes per Lodge, all Master Masons are invited (remember your dues card) and encouraged to attend.

For us in the First District this day has special importance.  We will be voting for the Grand Lodge Officers who will be installed in May 2013.  Depending on the vote, we might be represented by RW Stew Aronson as Grand Master and RW John Gordon as Deputy Grand Master.  Both from Gideon and Tucker Lodges here in the First.  It would be great to have a good representation to congratulate these superior Masons.

But first, please join us for the Master’s Class in Epping on Saturday November 3rd starting at 9 am with coffee and donuts.
